High Blood Pressure in Men Under 50

It does not hurt, so Brazilian men treat it as a problem for later. It is already later: the same arteries show up as a softer erection, a louder snore and a stroke that was supposed to happen to someone else.

Hypertension is one of the most common diagnoses a Brazilian man in his forties already has, and one of the least likely to have been measured on purpose. It does not hurt. It shares risk with the searches on this site — softer erections, louder snoring, a waist — and it is still treated as a problem for an older man.

A pharmacy cuff, a UBS, a plano check-up: any of them is a better next step than another booster. The Brazilian guideline range has moved over the years; what has not moved is that a number you have never seen is not a number you can ignore.

General educational information, not medical advice. A reading that is very high with chest pain, breathlessness, a sudden headache or weakness on one side is emergency care. A single high reading at the academy is a reason to repeat it, not to start a drug from a friend.

Why this page is on a site about men's problems

The vessels that fail in a stroke are the same class of vessel that fails in erectile dysfunction. The neck and the waist that produce apnoea raise blood pressure at night. Some of the tablets used to treat blood pressure change ejaculation or desire. The conditions are not separate lives.

Pre-workout blends with a hidden stimulant dose are a blood-pressure product. So is a lot of beer. So is salt in the Brazilian plate, which is not a moral failing and is still a lever.

Never measuredTreated, followed
Blood pressure that is never measured stays a lifestyle story until it is a vascular one. The erection, the snore and the waist are often the early notices.

How to get a reading that means something

Sit, five minutes, cuff on the arm, not after a set or a coffee. Repeat on another day. Pharmacies in Brazil will do this for very little money. A home cuff that has been validated is better than a smartwatch that has not.

White-coat hypertension is real. So is the opposite: a man who is fine in a clinic and high at night, which is one of the links with apnoea.

Treatment, without a manifesto

Weight, alcohol, salt, a walk, not smoking. Then a medicine, if the number stays up, chosen with a clinician who knows what else you take — including sildenafil, because some combinations are a problem and some are not. Do not stop a blood-pressure drug because of a bedroom side effect without saying so; there are other classes.

A man who will not take a tablet for a number that does not hurt will often take a tablet for an erection that does. That is the same vascular system. It is allowed to be the motivation.

When to go this week

A reading that stays very high, a reading with symptoms, a family history of early stroke, or an erection that failed with chest discomfort. A UBS can start this. A cardiologist is for the complicated picture, not for the first cuff.
